About This Site

Welcome to my blog! My name is Emily and I am a therapist in Washington State. As a graduate student of social work I had a lot of unanswered questions. I started this blog as a way to help my fellow colleagues who are struggling to navigate as a student and first year clinician.

It has been my pleasure to learn about the different ways we as social workers can work together to create the ultimate experience for our clients. This blog serves as a resource for other students in social work both at the bachelors and masters level, as well as new social workers entering the field.

Important Scholarship Opportunities for Undocumented Students

With the uncertain times we are facing right now you will likely come across students who are undocumented who want to attend college.  Here are 2 resources for scholarships for DREAMERS that you may want to pass on to clients.

TheDream.US, the largest college access and success program for DREAMers, is offering two types of scholarships for high school and community college graduates who are eligible for DACA or TPS status.

1)     The Opportunity Scholarship: $80,000 for DREAMers who live in the states where they have to pay out-of-state tuition; and

2)     The National Scholarship: up to $25,000 for DREAMers who live in the states that offer in-state tuition.

The application is open now but the deadline is February 1st, 2017 for the Opportunity Scholarship and March 8th, 2017 for the National Scholarship. So students need to get the applications in as soon as possible for the Opportunity Scholarship.
